These are a lightweight resin jig head designed for finesse fishing of soft plastic baits in certain conditions. In short, you get more hang time on the drop, giving a hesitant fish more time to consider.
Products like this have been commercially available in the past, but since discontinued. We'd like to continue to give anglers the option on a smaller production scale, with more choice.
These are made from two different kinds of resin, the first is a photopolymer blend, which is printed using a stereolithographic process (UV curing). These printed parts provide the internal details required for tight tolerance assembly against the hooks. After assembly, the heads are coated with a tougher 2 part epoxy resin.
The #1 size are 36mm in length from tip to bend with about 24mm useable hook shank.
The #3/0 size are 50mm in length from tip to bend with about 33mm useable hook shank.
Weights vary and are advised in each product posting.
These are a small batch locally made product, so you might find some variation. We want you to enjoy your fishing, so if you find anything that you aren’t happy with, please let us know and we’ll make it right.
We use a good quality hook. The epoxy finish makes these fairly tough, but they won't stand up to the same punishment as a lead jig head. Expect some wear and tear after sustained fishing. And please be aware that the resin parts can be crushed by excessive force via application of pliers, and we don’t advise or warrant against this circumstance. Again, we want you to enjoy your fishing so if you find any head which you feel doesn’t go the distance, please let us know and we’ll make it right.
We provide a standard size keeper to suit wrigglers etc. but it might be on the longer side for very slender or skinny baits (flickbaits etc.). If you have this problem, consider trimming the keepers with some pliers or flush cutters. or gently squashing the keeper down just a little bit with some needle nose pliers.
We use wax during manufacture to keep the hook eye free of resin during final coat. It's cleaned away during packaging but sometimes a little will get left behind. It's not hazardous, and shouldn’t affect your fishing; it can be cleaned away with a brush or toothpick.
There is a bit of clearance built in for the lead shots as they are not a perfectly round ballast. Sometimes these are audibly loose inside the head. It won’t affect their durability. If you want one to rattle give it a gentle tap on a table and it may free up. Or it may not. Give us your feedback on what you like and we’ll aim to improve.
Yes and yes, we'll continue to make popular colours, sizes, shapes and weights and continue to produce new ones to provide different options for fishing.
No. We’d like you to get out there and pair these with any baits you have, and we believe the big guys are your best outlet for baits. Heck if they start making resin jig heads again, we reckon you should buy those too!
